When I played football in high school one of the things the coaches would tell us was to, “leave it on the field.” The idea was that when you walked off the field at the end of the game win or lose you had given everything you had. You were to have no regrets that you could’ve done more, because you had nothing left to give. I have never been to or had a desire to return to see my high school football team play. When I walked off that field for the last time, I left it all on the field.
In our lives we should strive everyday to “leave it on the field.” At our jobs we should not do just what is required. We should not take our spouses for granted. We should never withhold our love from our children. We should not just show up to church and sit in the pew. We should not be too tough to cry or to sour to laugh. Instead we should “leave it on the field.”
I challenge you and myself to tell your spouse you love them everyday. Hug your children, especially you men and your boys. Give your best effort at work, so there is no doubt of your worth. Members of the church should not come to be served, but to serve. Watch a movie that makes you laugh until you cry or cry until you smile. Live your life that when you meet the creator you can say, “I left it on the field.”
Jesus did it on Calvary. “One of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water,” (John 19:34). Jesus bleed on the cross and left it all on the field.
About Me
- Chuck Baker
- Chuck Baker is Right! Well, I am. What I mean is that my friends always joke that I’m always right (or at least I think I am). The thing is I don’t say anything, unless I know I’m right. So it's not that I’m right about everything, but usually when I speak I know what I’m talking about. My dad always said, “Don’t speak unless you know your right.” This blog includes many subjects like religion, politics, business, movies, sports, and more.
