About Me

Chuck Baker is Right! Well, I am. What I mean is that my friends always joke that I’m always right (or at least I think I am). The thing is I don’t say anything, unless I know I’m right. So it's not that I’m right about everything, but usually when I speak I know what I’m talking about. My dad always said, “Don’t speak unless you know your right.” This blog includes many subjects like religion, politics, business, movies, sports, and more. No Bag, No Sale

Wal-Mart has begun eliminating disposable shopping bags at 3 stores in California. Customer will have to buy re-useable bags priced from 15 cents to $1.50. Environmentalists hope this will begin a nationwide trend to get all retailers to end disposable bags. Many other companies already sell re-useable shopping bags. I worked for a company that offered re-useable bags for $1.50, but I don’t think we sold more than a couple in our store.  If I have to buy a bag for merchandise that I just bought, I would likely consider not returning to that store.

I do not believe that these moves by businesses to cut waste to be more “Green,” has anything to do with saving the planet. Instead these companies are looking for ways to cut their costs and increase sales for a better bottom line.  A lot of hotels ask guests to reuse towels and bed sheets if they are staying more than one night to help conserve water and "save the planet."  This is just a ruse to save money by being political correct. The fact that they can be politically correct and get the support of environmentalists is a bonus. I have no problem with companies finding ways to make more money or save money. The more money my company makes, the more I make too. But this “Green” movement has to do with only one type of green, money.

Businesses use “Green” to make a bigger profit and environmentalists use “Green” to introduce communism and socialism into our economy. This is where the two are going to collide. Environmentalists are displaced communists who want to control want people and businesses do, under the false premise of saving the planet. Business should be careful in going “Green” or they will find the green they are truly after (money) will be taken away. Don’t believe me, have you heard of Cap and Trade, Carbon offsets, and social justice. All of these concepts are intended to control business, control people, and control money.
