2. Does the Bible allow for the theory of
evolution?
First we must understand what evolution means. If it is simply defined as change or adaption
to our surroundings, then evolution is something we can agree with. We all evolve over time. Even new dog breeds have come and gone over
time through natural selection. Animals
and plants that have been able to adapt and change with the changing world
around them to increased in numbers, while those animals and plants that have not have
gone extent.
Now the idea that life originated from simple forms to
what we see today by chance is less scientific and more of a philosophy of how
life began. Evolution in these terms is
not fact, but just theory. In Genesis it
accounts 10 different times that God created plants and animals.
Evolution contradicts some basic laws of science. The second law of thermodynamics implies that
left to itself, everything tends to become less ordered, not more ordered or “complex.”
This rule proves the obvious that as things get old they
breakdown, run down and die, not get more complex and better as
Evolution implies.
Evolution also says that mutations are beneficial, but
almost all signs in nature show that they are harmful.
If
God created everything at full maturity with the appearance of having gone
through the normal developmental states, this would explain the earth’s
appearance of millions of years of age while in reality it was only recently
created. And fossil and geological data
can also be explained by a universal global flood.
3. Can you be saved without believing in
Creation?
Of course you can still be saved, but as a Christian why
wouldn’t you want to investigate more and deepen your faith. If you can believe that the Son of God came
down from heaven, be born to a virgin, perform miracles, died on a cross, rise
from the dead 3 days later, and then ascend into heaven why can’t you believe that
God created the world in 6 days?
