East Columbus Christian Church in Columbus, Indiana has a private Christian school (Columbus Christian School) that is run out of it. It has been a mission the church for many years to offer Christian education to the community. The school has grown over many years and now offers Pre-K through 12th grade.
The tuition at CCS per student is about half the cost per student for the public schools. The teachers at CCS earn less than half what public teachers make and the public school teachers also get healthcare and other benefits that rival members of the UAW. Even with that the students on average at CCS perform at or above on the students at the public schools on the state tests.
So what does this mean? Education can be done just as well in the private sector as it is in the public. And if we would allow for more school vouchers we could see better results from all schools.
About Me
- Chuck Baker
- Chuck Baker is Right! Well, I am. What I mean is that my friends always joke that I’m always right (or at least I think I am). The thing is I don’t say anything, unless I know I’m right. So it's not that I’m right about everything, but usually when I speak I know what I’m talking about. My dad always said, “Don’t speak unless you know your right.” This blog includes many subjects like religion, politics, business, movies, sports, and more.
