Shriners Hospitals for Children is a one-of-a-kind international health care system of 22 hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs.
Children up to the age of 18 with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered environment at no charge – regardless of financial need.
My wife, Jenny was one of the children that had been helped by the Shriners Hospitals. When she was born she had a condition known as Club Feet. Her feet were upside down and backwards. It was one of the most sever cases at the time. The Shriners got one of the top doctors in the world to work on Jenny’s feet. Jenny had to have 4 different surgeries from the time she was born to about her freshman year of high school, before her feet were repaired. The Shriners Hospitals did all of the surgeries and they never charged her family one cent.
