MAJOR COVID UPDATE!!!!
First I recommend the Covid vaccine and here is my reason why from personal experience.
So for the past month Jenny Baker and I have been fighting Covid. Jenny got covid the first of the month and I got it about a week after. Jenny was very sick with up to 103.0 temp, extreme body aches, severe cough, trouble breathing, vomiting, fatigue, and loss of taste. She qualified for a special immune system infusion that increased her recovery. She was out about 14 days and the doctors allowed her to returned to work last week. She still has a slight cough and a little fatigue, but she is doing well.
When I started showing symptoms they were very light with just a slight fever and body aches. So while I tested positive and stayed home I was able to take care of Jenny. But just as she was getting better I took a major turn for the worse. My fever shot up, body aches got extreme, unbearable migraines, severe cough, heavy chest pain, major trouble breathing, pain in my toes and feet, and fatigue. I did a virtual call with a doctor and was told to go the hospital. My potassium levels were dangerously low, the covid had developed into pneumonia, and my heart rate is extremely low below 40 along with oxygen below 90. I've been in the hospital for 6 days now. I've been on steroids, meds, antibiotics, and other covid drugs. I'm still not sure when I'll be going home or the treatment going forward as I need oxygen just to even walk to the bathroom. Had I waiting even 1 more day to get to the hospital things could have gotten even worse. Honestly my life was on the line.
So here is our takeaway. Jenny and I was not vaccinated. We were never against the vaccine. But we just didn't think we really needed to worry about it. Luckily we did get Jenny's mom vaccinated and she is fine. But hindsight being 20/20 we wish we would have gotten the vaccine. This has been one of the worst sickness we have dealt with and the low risk of getting a vaccine is outweigh by the benefits of not get Covid.
I don't support vaccine mandates, but based on our experience I highly recommend people get the vaccine. Your immune system isn't strong enough to protect yourself. Vaccines are in general safe, they don't change your DNA (not how a vaccine works) and there is no microchips. Everyone has to make their own decision on their health, but I don't want anyone to go through what Jenny did and especially what I'm going through right now. I hope our experience helps you in your personal health care.
Once Jenny and I are clear to get the vaccine we will get it. Fact is the vaccine can help prevent getting Covid, but for those that still get Covid after the vaccine it can lessen the complications and the seriousness.
