About Me

Chuck Baker is Right! Well, I am. What I mean is that my friends always joke that I’m always right (or at least I think I am). The thing is I don’t say anything, unless I know I’m right. So it's not that I’m right about everything, but usually when I speak I know what I’m talking about. My dad always said, “Don’t speak unless you know your right.” This blog includes many subjects like religion, politics, business, movies, sports, and more. The 4 C's: Carat

The 4 C's of the Diamond

Carat:

Carat is a measurement of weight not size.  The word carat comes from carab the name of the seed of the locust tree.  When the seed is dry it has a consistent weight.  1 carab seed = 1 carat diamond.

Measurements for a diamonds weight is W x W x D x .0061 = (    )

If you measure the Crown of a diamond you can get an estimated weight for a round diamond.
1/10 ct.=3mm
1/4 ct.=4mm
1/3 ct.=4.3mm
1/2 ct.=5.1mm
5/8 ct.=5.6mm
3/4 ct.=5.8mm
1 ct.=6.3mm
2.5 ct.=9mm

The price of a diamond will always first be set by the carat weight.  The larger the diamond to more rare it is and the more it will cost.  But when comparing the same size/weight diamond the cut, color, and clarity will decide the final value of the diamond.
