About Me

Chuck Baker is Right! Well, I am. What I mean is that my friends always joke that I’m always right (or at least I think I am). The thing is I don’t say anything, unless I know I’m right. So it's not that I’m right about everything, but usually when I speak I know what I’m talking about. My dad always said, “Don’t speak unless you know your right.” This blog includes many subjects like religion, politics, business, movies, sports, and more. Tony on Tony

I’m a big Dallas Cowboys fan. As a young kid growing up one of my favorite players was Dallas Cowboy Running Back Tony Dorsett. After a Dallas Cowboys lost to the New York Giants where Dallas Quarterback Tony Romo threw 3 interceptions, Tony Dorsett had some harsh words for Romo.

"I don't know why on God's earth Tony Romo has been anointed a superstar in the National Football League," Hall of Fame running back Tony Dorsett told Fox Sports Radio. "Tony is very young in his career. Not to say you can't be young in your career and be a superstar because you've got one up there in Minnesota in Adrian Peterson.
"But the thing is this: You have a guy who hasn't done much, and quarterbacks in the NFL, most of them go through this growing curve. He hasn't gone through that growing curve, but he was anointed this great player all of a sudden. Now he's having to live up to that. And obviously Tony has some deficiencies."

It's not that Dorsett thinks Romo is horrible, he just doesn't see him as worthy of stardom.
"He's a good player who's still learning how to play in the NFL, and I think the media has given him too much credit for doing nothing," Dorsett told Fox Sports Radio. "He hasn't done anything really in the NFL to deserve all the recognition and visibility he's gotten so far."

While I love Tony Dorsett, he is completely wrong. First, the Cowboys had been a joke in the NFL until Tony Romo took over the team. The Cowboys did not have a real quarterback since the retirement of Troy Aikman. Second, Romo has had a quarterback rating in the 90’s almost ever season. Third, he has been one of the NFL leader in yards-per-pass-attempt. Fourth, he’s been to the Pro Bowl a few times. Fifth, he has gotten the Cowboys to the playoffs.  Sixth, I don't think I could name 15 active QBs I'd take over Romo.

Romo is a superstar because he has earned it. Is Romo the best QB in the NFL? No. Is Romo the worst QB in the NFL? No. I would say that Romo is one of the top ten NFL QBs. If Tony Romo can win a Super Bowl, then he will join the ranks of Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman. If he is unable to win a Super Bowl he will at least be on the same level of Danny White. A good Dallas quarterback, but not able to win the big one. Either way I will be happy. While Tony has not done to well as I would like, I would rather have Romo over Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, or Drew Henson.
