Liberals, Democrats, Leftist, Progressives, and Socialists will read that and say you just want businesses to do whatever they want. They don't understand the difference between government enforcement of laws and government intervention into the free market.
Laissez-faire today is different from the 18th or 19th century, but still no less important. Government's job today is to make sure that individuals and businesses aren't committing crimes like stealing, fraud, monopolies, child labor, unsafe working conditions, and slavery. But what government shouldn't be doing is picking winners and losers in the economy. They shouldn't be bailing out companies that make bad decisions. They shouldn't be passing laws to help one industry over another. There shouldn't be over taxation on businesses that especially hurt small business. And they shouldn't be interfering in things like price setting, limiting competition, or deciding wages. And government spending shouldn't be used as a way to stimulate the economy. Government should try to be as less involved in business as absolutely necessary.
