About Me

Chuck Baker is Right! Well, I am. What I mean is that my friends always joke that I’m always right (or at least I think I am). The thing is I don’t say anything, unless I know I’m right. So it's not that I’m right about everything, but usually when I speak I know what I’m talking about. My dad always said, “Don’t speak unless you know your right.” This blog includes many subjects like religion, politics, business, movies, sports, and more. My Take on George Floyd Death and Protests

1.  What happened to George Floyd was both a tragedy and an act of evil.  The police office who killed him is a bad man and the other police officers there are complicit in the death of Mr. Floyd.

2.  There is sin in the world and evil people in every profession.  We have seen teachers and minsters sexually abuse children.  We have seen doctors kill their patients and call it mercy or a choice.  There are business people who steal from their company and customers.  Everyday there are people who commit crimes. But because one or a small few in a profession commit a crime it doesn't mean all are bad.

3.  When a crime is committed, then it is up to our justice system to bring law and order.  In the death of George Floyd we saw the 4 police offices fired and arrested all within one week.  I know people think that there should have been arrests sooner, because there was a video.  But that isn't how the justice system works.  Fact is we have due process and the concept of innocent until proven guilty.  So once it was clear that the police officers commited a crime, there was investigation to collect evidence.  Then there was an arrest warrant issued by either a jude or grand jury.  Once that had been done the officers could be arrested.  If these steps are not taken, then there is a chance a lawyer could get the case thrown out on a technicality.   What we saw is that a crime was committed and the justice system dealt with crime.

4.  In 2019, the police killed 9 unarmed black men.  Also in 2019, the police killed 19 unarmed white men.  A recent study by Harvard University has concluded that there is no systemic racism in the police.  From the Wall Street Journal,  "A study of racial differences in police use of deadly force. To the surprise of the author, as well as many in the media and on the left who take racist law enforcement as a given, he found no evidence of bias in police shootings. His conclusions have been echoed by researchers at the University of Maryland and Michigan State University, who in a paper released last year wrote: “We didn’t find evidence for anti-Black or anti-Hispanic disparity in police use of force across all shootings, and, if anything, found anti-White disparities when controlling for race-specific crime.”"  On average there are 1000 police shootings per year.  Of those 73% are of white and Hispanic and 26% are black.  Blacks make up about 13% of the population.  But the reason why police shootings of blacks are higher than the population is because according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, blacks account for 62% of all robberies, 57% of murders and 45% of assaults. Blacks also account for 40% of cop killers.  Because of the high crime rate in the black community this means police are dealing with more criminals compared to its overall population.  We must be lead by facts and not fear or emotion.  The police are not racist.

5.  The First Amendment says, "The right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”  People have the right to peacefully protest the government, but riots and looting are not allowed.   Unfortunately these "peaceful protests" are anything but peaceful.   Almost every Black Lives Matters protests in large cities end in violence, riots, and looting.  You do not have the right to deface property, damage businesses, restrict the movement of others, physically attack others, or kill people.  As I already pointed out last year 9 unarmed black men were killed by police.  In one week of protests 5 black people have been killed by those involved in the protests.  Dozens of others have been killed, hurt physically, or financially by these "peaceful protests."  And make no mistake your protest isn't peaceful if you stop traffic by laying in the streets keeping others from moving freely.  Your protest doesn't get to infringe on my rights to freedom of movement, freedom of speech, life, liberty, and property.  If you can't control your protests from turning into violence, riots, and looting then you are not doing it right.

6.  Black Lives Matter is a socialist group that is connected with the domestic terrorist group ANTIFA.  They want to defund the police.  They have a petition on their website to defund the police.  From their website, "We call for a national defunding of police."  And as I said they are a socialist/communist group.  Also from their website, "We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another."  That is basically the foundation of the Communist manifesto.

7.  In conclusion, I do not support the police offices who killed George Floyd and pray for swift justice.  I also do not support any protests that end in violence, riots, and looting.  And I will always stand with the police in general.   Because when I need help it will not be Black Lives Matter or ANTIFA that will show up when I call 911.
