The conflict in Ukraine matters to America for many reasons. First, after the terrible withdrawal from Afghanistan it told Russia and China that our leaders were weak and afraid of any conflict. Second, if we allow Russia to take over Ukraine, China will take over Taiwan. If China attacks Taiwan we are obligated to protect them. If we don't protect Taiwan we will lose one of our biggest suppliers of semiconductors and microchips. This will cause economic and security problems for America and the world. Third, what Putin is doing is very similar to Hitler. Hilter didn't just attack all of Europe. They
took small parts saying those were really their territory. Putin wants to bring Russia back to the glory of the USSR. We must not allow this.
Why has Putin decided to do this? First, he thinks Biden and the other European leaders are weak and will not stop him. He saw what happened in Afghanistan and believes Biden is too afraid to stop any conflict. He saw how Obama and Biden bowed to Iran and are willing to give them a path to nuclear weapons. He sees how weak Biden is on the southern border. Second, Putin isn't dumb, but very savvy. His country isn't an economic power, but really a second tier economy with a powerful military. So his only option to stay strong is to take over other countries. Putin has done this in the past during the Bush administration, the Obama administration, and now the Biden administration. Third, he is doing it now because when Trump was president he knew Trump wouldn't stand for it. The weapons Ukraine are using are from Trump. And Trump wanted to do more, but the Democrats impeached him for it. Putin doesn't want to do something like this when America has a strong president.
What does America need to do? While I don't think we should send our troops into Ukraine we need to help them fight back against Russia. We should send weapons and supplies to Ukraine as fast as we are able. We need to give Ukraine every intelligence information we can on Russian military positions. We need to interrupt Russian internet and communications. We need to help get women and children out of Ukraine, so men and women without children that are willing are able to fight without worrying about the safety of their families. But the most important things we could do that we aren't doing is to stop importing all Russian oil and natural gas to America and Europe. Oil and natural gas are the life blood for Russia. We also need to stop allowing Russia to use the Swift financial systems and cut off any access to US dollars. Biden has refused to do these sanctions and without doing it all other sanctions are useless. Plus we should threaten to allow Ukraine into NATO. If we did this 1 of 2 things would happen. Putin would withdraw with the agreement that Ukraine will not join NATO. The other option is Russia withdraws, but keeps the 2 separatist regions and Ukraine joins NATO.
During the Trump administration the US was 100% energy independent. We were even exporting energy to other countries. But thanks to the Biden policies we are no longer energy independent and we actually import Russian oil. And Europe also gets most of its energy from Russia. We need to restart the Keystone pipeline, open drilling in federal land and water, open ANWAR, and cut gas taxes. We need send oil and natural gas to Europe. We have the energy we just need to tap into it. Gas and energy prices will go up in the short term, but it is what we need to do
What is likely to happen? First, if Ukraine can fight hard enough and long enough Russia will back down and only keep the separatist regions and get Ukraine to agree not to join NATO. Second possible outcome is that Russian kills the Ukraine president and puts their own leader in place. This keeps Ukraine its own country, but makes them a puppet of Russia. The third option is Ukraine falls and becomes part of Russia. This give Russia strategic power in Europe. And wil lead to a new Cold War or WWIII. Especially since the next thing we are likely to see is China invade Taiwan, Iran attack Israel, and even North Korea attack South Korea. Weak American leadership leads to war. Only strong American leadership and peace through strength keeps us from war.
