I know this will likely come off as I am being mean to teachers, but I mean this in a positive way. Teachers are safer than other workers in public jobs.
1. Studies have shown kids are less vulnerable to Covid than the flu.
2. Adults are less likely to get Covid from kids and more likely to get from other adults.
3. Compared to people who have been working in retail stores like Kroger and Walmart, teacher will be in far less danager. As a teacher you have a better ability to social distance than someone working with the general public.
4. It will be a lot easier to require kids to wear a mask compared to getting adults to wear a mask.
5. Teachers will also have an easier time of disinfecting classrooms compared to stores and businesses.
6. Most teachers are usually healthier than the general public. And Covid in general affects the really old and those with major health issues. So most teachers should be safe as they are in the category of adults that are less vulnerable.
7. In countries where schools have been reopened there has been liitle to no increase in the current rate of infections, hospitalizations, or deaths.
8. When a kid is sick a school can send the kid home or not allow them inside the school. Much harder for a business to stop someone from coming into their store if they are sick.
9. The CDC and the American Pediatric Association all agree that kids need to go back to school and it can be done safely.
