1 John 4:10; This is love: not that we loved God, but that
he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
What evidence would you cite as proof that God loves you?
Because God loves, he created us to love.
Because God loves, he cares for sinful people.
Because God loves, he sent Christ as our savior.
Because God loves, he gave us a way to eternal life.
1 John 4:12; No one has ever seen God; but if we love one
another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
What evidence would you cite as proof that you love God?
Because we love God, we love his people.
Because we love God, we care for his people.
Because we love God, we obey his commands.
Because we love God, we worship him and give our lives to
his son
Psalms 51:17; The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a
broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
God wants us to come to him broken, because we are
broken. God knows we can’t fix our
spirits, so he wants us to stop trying.
We sin and must repent. We sin
and we must ask for forgiveness. We sin
and only God can take the guilt of that sin away.
1 Corinthians 1:10; Now, dear brothers and sister, I appeal
to you by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ to stop arguing among
yourselves. Let there be real harmony so
there won’t be divisions in the church.
I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. (NLT)
Here Paul is telling us that all Christians are part of
God’s family and as a family we need to have harmony and not allow spiritual
divisions. Having different viewpoints
is different than being divisive. Any
group of people will have differences and not always agree, but if we treat one
another with love, respect, and working towards Christ purpose and not our own
we will be in harmony. Petty differences
should never divide a church and we should look more for common ground.
God loves us more, so we should love others more.
