The Yeast

Matthew 13:33; ³³ Jesus also used this illustration: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”

             In other Bible passages, yeast is used as a symbol of evil or uncleanness, but here Jesus uses yeast to explain how the Kingdome of Heaven will grow throughout the world.  Although yeast is a small part of the bread it grows throughout it.  The kingdom of God is the same way.  It was small at first, but it has grown throughout the whole world affecting every society.
